ROTTING CHTIST is one of the hardest working bands since they keep their numerous fans busy all the time. After COVID period and the release of the debut Sakis Tolis’ solo album, they swept everything and they keep sweeping the whole planet with live shows. Moreover, they have already finished the recordings for their next album. In the meantime, they could not leave their fans hanging so last July they released a compilation called “The Apocryphal Spells”.
This compilation consists of rare songs that were included in other compilations, singles or bonus tracks in limited editions of their older albums. In this compilation we can find “Astral Empbodiment” from the Brazilian release of “Genesis”, “Fire And Flame” from the Metal Chapters Book/CD, the uncirculated until now “I Am The Moonchild”, “Holy Mountain” from the special 7-inches vinyl collection of Decibel magazine. Also, the uncirculated in physical form remixes of” Pir Threontai” and “Demonon Vrosis” from “Aealo” album while there are some covers from the legendary KREATOR and BLACK SABBATH. The band’s albums are represented by the bonus songs from special editions like “Rituals”, “Sleep Of The Angels”, “The Heretics”, “Kronos”, “Κατά τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού” but also something for the older fans, “Visions Of The Dead Lovers” from the legendary “Thy Mighty Contract”. Lastly, the compilation includes songs from their EP, “The Call” and “Dawn Of The Iconoclast” and some split compositions with VARATHRON and NEGATIVE PLANE.
ROTTING CHRIST offers us a very full compilation with many rare recordings that will cover the time till the release of the next album. The interesting point in this release is the fact that the listener can realize the synthetic maturity and the changes in the sound since there are songs from 1992 till now. Those of you who did not have the opportunity to listen to these rare songs, it is time to do that! The rest of you can enjoy those songs in a single album since ROTTING CHRIST offers us a top quality release.
