With an attractive cover artwork reminiscent of the monolith of “2001: A Space Odyssey”, you immediately feel like you’re going to travel far away with this new release from TESSERACT, even though it’s another live, which was streamed during this very strange year of 2020. However, I won’t be picky because we’re talking about a hell of a group that deserves every praise. Classy music, aerial singing, hallucinating technicality, TESSERACT is quite a jem.

A demanding group for the listener, TESSERACT offers complex, polished music and they don’t “beat around the bush.” First track: “Of Matter”, fifteen minutes of pure prog mastery. Third track: eighteen minutes and the famous “Concealing Fate”. Other ten-minute pieces are also featured (“Beneath My Skin – Mirror Image”, “Of Energy”). As we can see, connoisseurs will be pleased with this imperial setlist, non-connoisseurs will be able to immerse themselves in the band’s universe. We can only advise them to give it a listen, as the performance here is impeccable and this live set has a real best-of feel as opposed to a classic live album.

Led by an exceptional pair of guitarists (Alec Kahney and James Monteith), TESSERACT unleash their long, convoluted, creative songs with brio. There is also a very highly praised CD + Blu-Ray edition available, a cinematic live experience like no other.

TESSERACT, in their instrumental depth, are sometimes reminiscent of the first two LEPROUS albums and the bands seem to share the same artistic view, as the two covers on their latest releases are very similar. In any case, TESSERACT have released a great live album and we are eagerly awaiting a new studio album, as the group seems to be in great shape.
