Label: Hells Headbangers

ABYSMAL LORD is a band from New Orleans and plays a mix of bestial Death/Black Metal with influences from BEHERIT, BLASPHEMY and ARCHGOAT. “Exaltation Of The Infernal Cabal” is their second full-lenght job. Created in 2013 and so far, they have released with this year’s album two full-length albums, one EP and one split.

The album has ten songs of chaotic Death/Black Metal which sound almost the same with each other as there is no variety in the rhythm. All the songs are distinguished by speed with no mid-tempo parts which would calm down the listener from this continuous assault and give something different to the songs (luckily, there are some intros/samples otherwise, after listening to this disc, I would have a headache). The production of the album is the classic for this genre, chaotic. Songwriting is hopelessly amateur as all the ideas played in here, they have been heard repeatedly in the past from other bands of the genre.

The truth is that after their debut album “Disciples of the Inferno” in 2015 (which was quite promising), I had several expectations for “Exaltation Of The Infernal Cabal”. Unfortunately they failed me. The band should work seriously to improve, because besides the bad new record it also has bad reviews for their live appearances. It’s a shame because in the beginning of their career those guys showed they have talent.
