Greece and Brazil have always had a special connection, starting with football and extending to music. Now this happens also in Black Metal. Music! An example of this is a new alliance called KRAVGI, consisting of two members, the Brazilian Enrih Strange who has taken over the music and the Greek Grito (MOYNTAIN HERMIT, VINTERMØRKE) who is responsible for the vocals. The band was formed this year and, without any delay, they introduced to us with their self-titled debut EP.
The cover with the famous painting “Scream” by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch and the black-white shades, puts you in the claustrophobic climate that you are going to experience in the 22 minutes of music abyss that is coming. With song titles such as “The Rift Where I Hid My Soul)”, “Scream” and “Memories”, the stuffy Depressive Suicidal Black Metal package is completed. Lo-fi production, the characteristic raw tremolo riffing and the “desperate” vocals of Grito, create an unpleasant feeling, shaking the integrity of each person, with the influences extending from the early Norwegian Black Metal scene to recent ULTHA.
The debut EP by KRAVGI is a Black Metal release that includes everything that a fan of this sound will want. It has an old school feeling, not suitable for sensitive and untrained ears. So, quite successful the first musical attempt of this Greek-Brazilian alliance, offering us five extreme compositions that exude anguish, blackness and freeze the heart and mind of the listener.
