The time has finally come that almost the entire metal community has been waiting! HELLOWEEN all together and stronger than ever! The “Masters of the Rings” (the “lords” are their other companions and compatriots, BLIND GUARDIAN) realized that the success of “Pumpkins United” and the following tour in 2017-2018 had to lead to a “complete relationship”. It was fair and it was done, so they sat down and created their coveted self-titled album. A characteristic example of this is “Skyfall”, the first single that has just been released!
“Skyfall” is a story by Hansen about an alien falling to earth, which is also highly directed in terms of vocal alternation, something that is perfectly reflected in the blockbuster-ish video that was shot for the sake of this song. The single is available in two versions… one containing the twelve-minute composition (with different mix on vocals) and the other containing another of the album’s track on the b’ side, “Indestructible”. Of course all these are in colorful versions for all tastes. Musically, one realizes all this “weight” and that they are trying to give 100% of their best selves. Not only because they definitely want it, but also because they know that after the “pumpkin union”, the public expects something good and will clearly be more demanding towards them. “Skyfall” has mainly elements from the 80’s and their early 90’s discography, as it reminded me of moments from “Keepers 1 and 2” (“Save Us”, “Eagle Fly Free”, “March On Time”, bonus “Victim Of Fate “),” Kids Of the Century” in the chorus and even “Windmill”(!) in its soft part (two tracks from their “forbidden “albums), in combination with the epic air of “Land Of The Free” album in the middle of its duration.
Therefore, “Skyfall” is reminiscent of good old days and can easily be classified as a new classic. It “rewards” the listener for all these years of waiting with all this enclosing canvas of music, making him “hungrier” for the final result! Anyway, here we find our favorite “pumpkins” renewed, declaring themselves present powerfully and bringing with them this futuristic air of hope (even in their logo), something we like quite a lot I would say. So we are looking forward to their new album with great enthusiasm!
