After yesterday’s sudden news of Nicko McBrain’s departure from IRON MAIDEN, the whole world wondered who would be his replacement! The answer came instantly from the band, and his name is…Simon Dawson! Simon is an old band mate of Steve Harris’ BRITISH LION, being the drummer of the band for 12 years!
IRON MAIDEN’s official announcement follows:
“As the ‘The Future Past Tour’ concludes after 81 concerts to over 1.4 million fans, from Ljubljana to the Coachella Valley and from Western Australia to São Paulo, IRON MAIDEN are pleased to announce that behind the band’s kit for 2025 will be a name familiar to many of our fans — Simon Dawson, former session drummer and collaborator of Steve Harris for the past 12 years with BRITISH LION.
Hailing from Suffolk, England, Simon first collaborated with Steve Harris in 2012. He made his debut on three tracks of the first BRITISH LION album and on the second album, The Burning, which was praised by critics, as well as on many subsequent tours in the USA, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and, most recently, in Mexico and South America.
IRON MAIDEN will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year with the ‘The Run For Your Lives’ tour, starting in Budapest on May 27, 2025.”
We wish Simon Dawson all the best in this exciting new chapter of his career!
