Anneke van Giersbergen has announced her return to the stage with THE GATHERING for two exclusive concerts at Doornroosje, in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, 2025. To mark the 30th anniversary of their landmark album “Mandylion”, Dutch rockers THE GATHERING have invited all their former members to participate in two celebratory shows.
Anneke herself expressed her excitement, saying:
“The first time we met again, we went out for sushi, and the second time we were already talking about doing the anniversary show. It all happened at once. The rehearsals were super weird. I did one rehearsal with them, and we played songs like “Saturnine” and “Strange Machines”, which I’ve been performing in my solo shows for the past eight years. But when we played them together, the guys were playing and moving just like they did 10 years ago.”
Fans can expect to hear all the tracks from “Mandylion”, as well as additional songs from the Anneke era of the band.
THE GATHERING shared their excitement with a statement:
“After so many years, we are very excited to celebrate this anniversary together, for an album that still means so much to us.”
