WARGRINDER was created in 1999 by Warhead and is a Greek underground one man band. Since 2000, they have released three full length albums and four splits. Their sound can be described as a Black/Death and War Metal mixture, a pretty intense and violent outcome that reminds us the great ANGELCORPSE. So, in 2020, the WARGRINDER war machine returns with its new EP “Ironclad Destroyer”.

Things are quite simply in “Ironclad Destroyer”. Here we are dealing with an EP of aggressive Death Metal with intense guitar riffing and blastbeats that leave the listener breathless! The record is characterized by a constant Death/Black aggression that reminded me of ANGELCORPSE’s “The Inexorable” album with a necessary touch of MORBID ANGEL’s sound. Even if the sound in the 18 minutes of this EP is quite monotone, it is characterized by an honest passion, reflected in the music and in Warhead’s performance on drums.

 “Ironclad Destroyer” is not something truly original, but it is a good example of savage Death Metal enriched with Black Metal elements and it is sounded quite pleasantly! For those who are missing ANGELCORPSE’s sound, give WARGRINDER a listen as they can be their perfect replacement.
