WALPURGIA was created in Athens during 2019 by well-known musicians of the Greek Black Metal scene. At the guitars is Porphyrion (singer of KAWIR, LYKAIONAS, CULT OF EIBON and NERGAL), bass by Sadistic Necrofagos (KAWIR, CAEDES CRUENTA, ITHAQUA) and Nyogtha Zalon Nazaron (BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION, HATE MANIFESTO, CAEDES CRUENTA, CULT OF EIBON) is doing the vocals and writes the lyrics. They introduced to us in April 2020 with their demo “Altar Of The Goatbaphomet,” which was released on 50 numbered tapes and was sold out immediately. The line-up and the impact the demo had in the underground, attracted Sweden’s Helter Skelter’s Productions interest. The label will release “Altar Of The Goatbaphomet” on June 30, 2020 in vinyl and CDs. So, this will be WALPURGIA’s debut EP. We have to mention that drums in this EP are played by Hyperion (KAWIR, ABYSSUS, released ANGER) as a guest/session musician.
WALPURGIA was born with the intention to create blasphemous and apocalyptic War Metal. A statement that has become an “evil” reality within the 22 minutes of “Altar Of The Goatbaphomet”! Five Blackened Death Metal songs with a touch of BLASPHEMY, BEHERIT, BESTIAL WARLUST and a violent war aspect. A brutal and raw sound that drags you into its destructive path, with extraordinary War Metal compositions and a nostalgic underground feeling. Imposing, grow vocals by Nyogtha, bestial guitars riffs by Porphyrion drums and bass are building a massive sound. Together with the evil and ritualistic atmosphere, it gives an impression of a record that is born in another morbid world, ready to crush everything in its devastating passage as a nightmare,
The music background and the hype of WALPURGIA’s line up was a guarantee of what we were going to listen in their blasphemous debut “Altar Of The Goatbaphomet”. Committed to their musical vision, out of trends and experimentations, they offer us a high quality Bestial/War Metal album that emphasizes for its compositions and its old school feeling and character.
