TRAGEDY AND TRIUMPH is a newly formed German band, which started its journey in 2017, but this year released its debut album entitled “Where Mountains Rise And Hearts Fall”. The Germans belong to the category of Melodic Death Metal, but more specifically to what we call Viking Metal, since their lyrical concept touches the Norwegian mythology and the Vikings’ life.

Usually, when we hear about Viking Metal, the brand names of the genre AMON AMARTH or even KING OF ASGARD come to our mind, expecting fast, dynamic and aggressive songs! In “Where Mountains Rise And Hearts Fall” we have all of those elements and many others from older and well-known bands of this style.

The album opens and closes with two small tracks, an introduction and an outro. In between, we find nine compositions that have unstoppable rhythm and energy, with the only exception of “Beneath The Howling Gate”, which is a mid tempo song and “Where Mountains Rise And Hearts Fall”, which is a very beautiful instrumental.

TRAGEDY AND TRIUMPH begin their record career with a very strong release, a debut that shows the intentions of the band. Creating a more personal character in their songs and melodies, their next work may lead them/us to Valhalla! Skål!
