After nine years of silence, the legendary Black Metal project of THOU ART LORD has returned this year with new music. It’s unnecessary to analyze who are the musicians involved here! Truth is that in the recent years, there was nothing said about new music from the band, however the reactivation of Mangus with YOTH IRIA and NECROMANTIA was probably the reason for the reappearance of THOU ART LORD. So, after the album “The Regal Pulse of Lucifer” in 2013 and the split with RAVENCULT in 2015, they now unleash hell with this new EP called “Daemoniorum”, which is released in a collectible red 7’’ vinyl (666 copies) including an amazing cover created by Maximo Manolis.
The physical form of “Daemoniorum” includes two songs, “Hades” and “The Black Halo”, while the digital form includes another song entitled “Fire, Chaos and Doom”. The members which recorded the EP are Magus on bass and vocals, Sakis Tolis on guitar and Giannis Votsis (CAEDES CRUENTA, DEPHOSPHORUS, EMBRACE OF THORNS) on drums. Regarding the songs, “Hades” is quite familiar to us as we have heard it before, more specifically in the split of ROTTING CHRIST with VARATHRON in 2019.
So, “Spiritus Sancti” is reborned by THOU ART LORD with new lyrics and production. In fact, their new version has a bit of YOTH IRIA’s aura, something very logical since the recording of this EP, the mixing and the mastering took place at Pentagram Studios. Regarding the other two compositions we have a Black/Thrash Metal storm, reminding the early BATHORY along with VENOM and MOTORHEAD jamming together. These two songs will also remind older compositions of the band, the “Demon State” (from “The Regal Pulse Of Lucifer” album) and the band’s hit “Societas Satanas”. It should also be mentioned that “The Black Halo” features guest vocals by Ashmedi of MELECHESH.
Every THOU ART LORD’s new release, besides excitement, is also awe-inspiring as we are talking about a legendary Greek Black Metal band and “Daemoniorum” has already rumbled with its release. So we are in 2022 and THOU ART LORD gives us a strong taste of oldshool Greek Black Metal. The only negative fact we can find is that the 9 minutes of this EP are not enough!
