On the page/group/team called THE GALLERY, we do not aim to become a charitable organization, nor do we claim laurels of charity, let alone political correctness. Nevertheless, in recent days we have been observing a human drama happening in our neighborhood. A drama with tens of thousands of dead as it is unfolding, and with hundreds of thousands of homeless people in Turkey and Syria.
Seeing it in a completely humanitarian way and leaving out enmities, history of confrontations, political and war conflicts as well as the economic interests of the global lobby controlling our economies, THE GALLERY will be present to help people whose lives have been radically changed in a few seconds. Human to human! Here and now! I leave the rest to Sofia Kouroumali who has undertaken the coordination of this effort to help our fellow human beings. Here is a text from Sofia with all the details you need to know, those of you who are interested in helping…
A.S.
Dear members of The Gallery,
As I’m sure you are aware, the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has left thousands of people in tragic conditions and there is an extreme need for help. It goes without saying that in such a crisis, we cannot and will not stand by.
Various organisations have already been activated and missions will also be sent by local municipalities, regions and embassies. We would like to encourage you to donate items and money wherever you wish and however it is most convenient for you.
We will collect items which we will deliver to “The Other Man’s Social Kitchen” which is preparing its own mission with a departure date of February 25, 2023.
The volunteer mission is still being manned so if any of you wish to participate you can contact them directly.
Below is a list of the items we will be collecting and we will proceed in the same way we have done in the past. Anyone who wants to donate something can indicate it in the comments and the person serving their area will be contacted by private message (please be sure to check your inbox on those days as well). The day and location of the pickup will then be determined. If you can deliver them yourself it will be even better, otherwise we will come to your house.
Those who have a car and want to help with routes are more than welcome.
We will be collecting items until Monday, February 20, 2023.
For any further information or clarification please send a message to Sophia Kouroumali’s facebook profile HERE.
