It’s beautiful to see a band that you’ve been following closely since its inception constantly evolving and improving, because you’re evolving with it. As a result you feel a moral satisfaction and why not, a sense of vindication as well. This is exactly what happens in my relationship with SPIRIT ADRIFT. I have emphasized in my previous reviews that this band, essentially Nate Garret’s personal work, is one of the most promising forces in the metal scene. “Diamond” discs, like “Divided By Darkness” and “Enlightened In Eternity”, do not happen every day, especially in this day and age, where fillers tend to replace inspiration.
A natural evolution and continuation of this whole artistic path, is their 3rd EP. The title track that opens this release, is another lyrical hymn dedicated to the sacred monsters of the music we love, such as DIO and JUDAS PRIEST. The next track titled “Wake Up” – which is also the official video – with its intense 80s OZZY “Crazy Train” era and IRON MAIDEN origins on vocals and guitars, combined with its “catchy” chorus, makes it easily one of the band’s classics. Finally, this “small but miraculous package” LP and CD with the amazing artwork by Kuba Sokólski, lasting 20 minutes, closes with “Invisible Enemy”, a concise composition about what SPIRIT ADRIFT is today.
In conclusion, it’s a work that puts you directly into the classic Heavy Metal atmosphere that SPIRIT ADRIFT play, with those great riffs, the melodies but also with the powerful, full of confidence vocals. A foretaste that “the best is yet to come”, which will please the fans of the band. A release that shouts loudly that SPIRIT ADRIFT are standing firmly on their feet and that they are “Forging the future of their destiny” with the best of conditions!
