The Greek Black Metal band SORGELIG has shown a continuous and fruitful hard work through the years, having gained enormous respect to the listeners, especially those abroad. Faithful to their appointment, they offered a new release in 2021. This new effort, entitled “Slaves of Tomorrow”, is consisted of three new arrangements. It is the fourth EP in the band’s discography, which is complemented by two full-albums and a split.
With this new EP, SORGELIG reveals an attempt to experiment, incorporating new elements in its nihilistic Black Metal sound. This is something they have done in the past, referring to the EP “Devoted to Nothingness” back in 2019, where one can find influences from the Portuguese scene (BLACK CILICE, etc.). In “Slaves of Tomorrow” we can distinguish crust/punk elements, as for example in the breakdown of the second composition “Dreaming The Void”,which – combined with the aggressive and depressing character of the band – create a sweeping and suffocating sonic black metal hurricane. Meanwhile, in the track “In the Prison of Dead Dreams” that closes the EP female vocals enrich the track, while the heartbreaking and desperate cries of N.D. depicts the words of SORGELIG, who dedicated this EP to those who died alone in a prison cell and to those who struggle with adversity and the wild reality of modern life.
The band released another excellent album and, despite its short duration, it will satisfy every Black Metal fan out there. At the same time, it opens our appetite for the next album of SORGELIG, which is currently being prepared and is expected to be released in 2022. Until then, you can wander throughout the dark and evil path of “Slaves of Tomorrow.”
