During the last two years the German Thrash Metal veterans SODOM have been in a synthetic “orgasm” as they are bombing us with new releases, mostly EPs. There was of course last year’s full length “Genesis XIX” which created mixed emotions between the fans. So, the Germans decided to return this year with another new EP entitled “Bombenhagel”, the title of which brings us to mind the classic song from the great album ” Persecution Mania” of 1987.
In their new release (which contains three compositions in total) SODOM presents us a new version of “Bombenhagel”, which has no differences compared to the original, just a better sound with quality production. Harris Johns also who played a solo in 1987’s song, and the same happens nowadays. Furthermore, we have two new songs, “Coup De Grace” and “Pestiferous Posse”. Those songs are two explosive Thrash Metal compositions, in the musical paths that we are used by SODOM. They are fast and violent with old school “thrashy sound” and groove. Only “Pestiferous Posse” has a little difference in the middle of the song, as the speed drops and we hear a slow and quite melodic part.
SODOM offers us again another quality EP, as they do all those years. This release wants to fill the gap until live performances return. The band looks refreshed with appetite for music, its current composition proves to be compact and strong. As for us, we expect for all this madness on the planet to end and enjoy SODOM live one day!
