SADUS have fired the band’s co-founder and drummer, Jon Allen, following the emergence of videos and photos showing him abusing his partner at home while a small child is seen attempting to intervene. SADUS vocalist and guitarist Darren Travis issued a statement saying:
“Following recent allegations of misconduct, SADUS are parting ways with Jon Allen. We do not condone any form of malicious behavior toward anyone.”
The videos and photos in question were shared by ANUBIS bassist and vocalist Devin Reiche. The footage shows Allen hitting his partner, Brandy Mae Collins, while she is connected to a dialysis machine, as her son begs him to stop. Another video shows Allen admitting he is drunk while continuing to abuse Collins. In the same message, Collins sent images to Travis appearing to show physical signs of abuse on her body.
Devin Reiche wrote:
“CONTENT WARNING: Extremely graphic video footage shows a woman connected to a dialysis machine being abused while her child watches in horror. She ended up hospitalized a few days later, urinating blood. It was discovered that her catheter had been displaced into her ovaries, and from what I understand, she almost died as a result.”
Collins underwent a kidney transplant earlier this week. She also claims to have been in intensive care due to an incident of abuse during which Allen left to join SADUS’ current European tour with OBITUARY.
Collins has been active on Facebook in recent days, criticizing SADUS (except for live guitarist Claudeous Creamer, who she claims was unaware of the alleged abuse and has shown support in the past). In a nearly 90-minute video, she describes Allen’s alcohol addiction and recounts other instances of alleged abuse. She also claims to have tried contacting SADUS guitarist and vocalist Darren Travis, asking for help to place Allen in a rehab program. She tearfully expressed her ongoing concern for Allen’s well-being, stating in the video:
“He’s an addict. He drinks until he passes out. He takes it out on me because I’m a sick girl. And because I’m much younger than him, he often feels the need to oppress me and make me feel like a child. It started out slowly, with him belittling me. Then it escalated to things like, ‘Oh, you can’t look too pretty.’ I caught him lying and hiding vodka in water bottles. He made me feel terrible just because I was sick and needed help.”
Nuclear Blast, the label that released SADUS’ 2023 album, stated:
“Nuclear Blast is no longer working with the band SADUS.”
Jon Allen played for SADUS from their formation in 1985 until 2015, and again following their reformation in 2017 until now.
