Germans RAGE are an admittedly impressive band, dating back to 1984, with their first album “Reign Of Fear” released in 1986. With an impressive catalog behind them, with many good albums in their quiver, Peavy Wagner and his band releasing their latest opus, “Wings Of Rage”, a powerful collection of songs featuring Power and Symphonic Metal samples, a true blend of their history.
2016’s “The Devil Strikes Again” led to the very good 2017’s “The Seasons Of The Black” and now – through a different record label – comes “Wings Of Rage” and completes a trio of dignified albums of the band, without being burdened by the mistakes of the past. Peavy and his collaborators Marcos Rodriguez (guitar) and Vassilios Maniatopoulos (drums), managed to summarize the diversity and experience of the band’s 37 years of history into twelve songs, while adding a new chapter to it.
The album begins with “True” a truly hybrid track with HELLOWEEN vocals as well as Power Metal tracks and chorus parts. Really good for an opening song, with the album launching with “Let Them Rest In Peace” and “Chasing The Twilight Zone” luring us into a thunderous riff on a wonderful guitar solo and ending as it began, with a well-known TV theme emission to fade.
A career of 37+ years is impressive, and the fact that Peavy never lost his way and has always been surrounded by experienced and good musicians and songwriters helped shape the RAGE identity. All in all, “Wings Of Rage” is a good effort from one of Germany’s big names, which will bring in new fans and make the old ones wait for more. In addition, if you’re looking for a modern yet classic Heavy Metal album, then “Wings Of Change” might be what you’re looking for.
