What could anyone say about this unique artist…? Like no other, a controversial personality with his stooges but also the man that divided the world into two parts and made him quarrel at every opportunity…”he or Bruce? Bruce or him?” One thing is for sure! If there wasn’t the intense personality and power of DI ANNO’s voice, MAIDEN would not succeed to be on the map and be taken to the top afterwards with Dickinson! One of the most influential artists in metal history as the voice of IRON MAIDEN’s first two full albums. In 2019 Di Anno, after his upside downs, has been insisting (and doing well) to produce work. A new example of this, is the new release of “Tales From The Beast”.

Here we have to deal more with an “informal” collection of highlights tracks from the first two albums of MAIDEN. With exceptions of 3-4 covers in classic tracks such as MEGADETH’s “Symphony Of Destruction”, ZEPPELIN’s “Kashmir” LEDs as well songs from VAN HALLEN and BLACK SABBATH.

What amazed me while listening to this collection is Di Anno’s interpretations and this retro atmosphere and nostalgia that drifts into the sound of the guitars and the drums, getting us back to the original era of the first MAIDEN’s albums! From a derivative point of view, we would say that those compositions are very similar to the original songs. From then on, I think Di Anno in this release enjoys playing IRON MAIDEN and will probably enjoy it for all his life, so we should not take this release seriously.

For those who want to have Di Anno’s best songs from his MAIDEN service plus some extra covers, listen to it, invest in it, do whatever you want! The rest of you who are indifferent to such releases, simply skip over!
