The first singer of IRON MAIDEN, the beloved Paul Di’ Anno, passed away today at the age of 66 years old. His family announced the news with a post on his official Facebook page.
“On behalf of his family, Conquest Music is saddened to confirm the passing of Paul Andrews, professionally known as Paul Di’Anno.
Paul died at his home in Salisbury aged 66.
Born in Chingford, East London on 17th May, 1958, Paul first came to prominence as the lead singer of the English Heavy Metal band, IRON MAIDEN between 1978 and 1981. He sang on their groundbreaking debut album Iron Maiden” and the influential follow-up “Killers”.
After leaving IRON MAIDEN, Paul Di’Anno had a long and eventful career with BATTLEZONE and KILLERS, as well as numerous solo releases and guest appearances.
Despite the fact that in the recent years he suffered from serious health problems that confined him performing in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, counting over than 100 concerts in 2023.
The first retrospective album of his career, “The Book of the Beast”, was released in September 2024 and contained the highlights of his recordings after leaving IRON MAIDEN.

Paul Di’ Anno had played live in Greece together with Gus G. in December 2022, in two sold out performances in Athens and one in Thessaloniki. Despite the difficulties he faced in singing due to his burdened health, the people adored him at every moment, showing how much he appreciated him for his contribution to IRON MAIDEN and to Metal in general.
