Oranssi. Orange color. If we don’t have a creative doorway in our lives, our Spirit dies. Orange responds to the Holy Chakra and forces us to search for a mental relaxation. Our creativity is the one that will save us and evolve our soul in these times of intensifying stress. Pazuzu. The Demon, The King of southwestern wind that brings famine during drought periods and locusts in periods of humidity. At the same time, it protects human beings from other evil spirits, mischance and pestilence. Strange? Not according to the rules of human nature. Oranssi Pazuzu. The orange Finnish Demons who have been torturing us since 2007 and they just released their fifth LP “Mestarin Kynsi”.
1. Revelation.
It moves against the light. The moon is getting bigger, fear disappears. A snake burns the skin of my hand. The black-toothed mouth opens wide and darkness creeps out from underneath the tongue. The dead people are talking, I’ve seen the last cemetery on the road. The road is clear, purified by fire. A fire that burns slowly with consecutively keyboard layers in a very dark atmosphere until the Black Metal eruption that precipitates the listener into the Abyss.
2.The mystery of Emptiness.
Emptiness is not a capacity or a universal acquaintance of some entities because then it would not be emptiness and we could have a clear picture and conviction about it. The truth is that emptiness is just a cure, a mean to detoxicate ourselves from mental dependencies. We can reject our adhesions through emptiness. It is not a positive thesis but a denial of all aspects and mental structures. Technical drumming on the verge of Jazz improvisation, ambient keyboard passings and a dark hole that sucks everything, challenging the listener to override it in order to survive.
3. A new technocracy.
Knowledge is acquiring a new dimension as far as the society is concerned. It becomes a political factor since the carriers of specials knowledge present their thoughts, their opinion, their diagnosis, the final judgement of the excellent connoisseur, the expert. It is the system of governance in which the power of authority lies in the hands of the technicians of administration and economy. A passable layer the way that EMPEROR performed contributes to the creative madness of these Finnish guys. The keyboards will remind a bit of SIGH, more like a cinematic carpet by Carpenter.
4. The Hall of the Fair Ones
Register my name and show me the Hall. They are calling for me, they are announcing my crime, the light is covering the hum. Leave your hand bound on a flaming wheel. Justice, a spiral cover, happiness. In this track ORANSSI PAZUZU focus more in ferocity and fury with a claustrophobic essence than in rhythm. Desperation, absence of justice, guitar riffs are moving forth and backwards.
5. I hear underground voices.
I am grabbing a hammer off the wall and keep on walking in the dark. Teeth adorn the basement, they call it signs of drain, where did they go? Bodies are dissolving and forming again. The cyanide performance is hovering in the city air. Layers of electronic music, gradual pulse escalating to a high peak, wrecking our necks until the point of decompression, in an almost chilling lounge.
6.Heaven’s Gate.
Pillars of eternity, the memories are disappearing. The Heaven’s Gate opens and drowns everything around. And all of a sudden, a Dark Hole appears, fed by Darkness, sucks the entirety of our existence with stormy power and speed. The heaviest and most powerful moment of this record, suitable for ending.
“Mestarin Kynsi” is very demanding for the listener. Several listenings are required in order to manage to feel the pulse, the creative mania and the chaotic dimension of these Finnish guys. Equal dose of psychedelia, Black Metal outbursts, drone noises and electronic creation. Those of you who felt the mysticism and ecstasy at Roadburn Festival 2017 are still delirious from that gig. The rest of you can stream the entire “Mestarin Kynsi”, performed live a few days ago. Enjoy at your own responsibility.
