The iconic band of the Greek Metal scene, NIGHTFALL, returns with the release of the music video for their new single «I Hate», taken from their upcoming album «Children of Eve». With a sound that blends Goth melodies with Blackened Death Metal and a strong social commentary, NIGHTFALL address themes such as religious fanaticism, mental health, and human endurance in the face of suffering.
Here is the press release from Season of Mist:
The legendary Athenian Death Metal band sounds more vengeful than ever. With a monumental production and a powerful message, their eleventh studio album is their darkest and most epic creation to date. «Children of Eve» is here to unite dark souls everywhere.
NIGHTFALL’s founder and vocalist, Efthimis Karadimas, comments on «Children of Eve»:
«I love how this album turned out! We are excited to play these tracks live. The sound is massive. The choruses are imposing. And the message comes through clearly. It’s an album about how we endure pain, how we live with pain, and how we die within it.»
«Children of Eve» features the most powerful collection of tracks the band has ever created, while their disdain for the dominance of the Orthodox Church has only intensified over the years.
Efthimis explains the inspiration behind the album:
«Rage was the root. Faith is a personal matter, but it can become a dirty affair.»
To amplify their message, NIGHTFALL have taken the production of «Children of Eve» to another level. Efthimis and Fotis Benardo handled the production with the help of INNERWISH guitarist Thimios Krikos. Meanwhile, Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) took charge of mixing and mastering. For the album artwork, the band entrusted Eliran Kantor, whose renowned paintings have graced albums by TESTAMENT, KREATOR, and HELLOWEEN.
The title «I Hate» directly targets the ongoing influence of organized religion. «The Traders of Anathema» pays tribute to Judas Iscariot, while «The Cannibal» explores how religious structures and fanaticism can consume an individual.
During NIGHTFALL’s last hiatus, Efthimis was diagnosed with depression. Now, he wears a black mask covering half of his face, symbolizing the invisible veil of mental illness. Efthimis speaks about this:
«When you have demons in your mind, you’re not always the ideal company. This stigma can lead to isolation. We can talk about it. We can sing about it. We can build a community based on understanding.»
NIGHTFALL encourage metalheads to speak openly, launching the Metal Music Against Depression (MMaD) initiative, supported by the European Alliance Against Depression.
Sébastien Gamez, promotion & scheduling coordinator for NIGHTFALL, comments on the new single «I Hate»:
«Since their formation in 1991, NIGHTFALL have continued to shape the Greek Metal scene alongside ROTTING CHRIST and SEPTICFLESH. I am excited to announce that their eleventh studio album, «Children of Eve», is now available as a digital promo, along with the release of their first single, «I Hate».
This album is their darkest and most epic creation to date, weaving gothic melodies into a Blackened Death Metal foundation with a powerful message. The lead single «I Hate» and tracks like «The Cannibal» bring an eerie intensity and an insightful critique of religious fanaticism, showcasing their unparalleled artistic expression and the album’s monumental production. I invite you to explore this record.»
