The Thessaloniki-based psychedelic rockers NAXATRAS return with their fifth album, “V”, an immersive journey through cosmic soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms. The band continues to evolve their signature sound, blending Space Rock (with plenty of OZRIC TENTACLES influences), Progressive elements, and vintage Kraut Rock analog warmth, expanding their sonic horizons without losing their identity.
From the atmospheric “Celestial Gaze” to the dynamic shifts of “Utopian Structures”, “V” highlights the band’s intricate arrangements and deep “Sci-fi” aesthetic. “Breathing Fire” takes a heavier approach with powerful riffs, while “Legion” delves into haunting ambient textures. “Sand Halo” pays tribute to classic progressive rock with guitar solos reminiscent of DAVID GILMOUR and ANDY LATIMER. The oriental “Numenia”, accompanied by an impressive music video featuring mesmerizing dancers (who also performed with the band during select songs at their recent Athens concert), transports listeners to the mystical depths of Asia. Finally, “The Citadel” closes the album with an expansive, cinematic tone.
With “V”, NAXATRAS solidify their position as one of the most distinctive bands in modern psychedelic rock, and easily one of the best bands in Greece right now. The album demands to be experienced in its entirety, offering a rich sonic journey that captivates both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
