MUSMAHHU is coming from Sweden and it is a fairly new band as the 2019’s “Reign of The Odious” was its debut full-length and came a year after the “Formulas of Rotten Death” EP. The band is basically a one-man project by the “busy-man” Mr Swartadauþuz (does everything except the vocals) who also runs the record label Ancient Records / Mysticism Productions, participating also in several underground bands (Bekëth Nexëhmü, Azelisassath, Svartrit etc)!
The album is a mixture of savage Old School Death Metal with sick melodies and influences from the Black Metal scene, mostly from DARK FUNERAL and the early GORGOROTH. Solid sound with fantastic drumming, which is the highlight of the album, stormy frantic riffs and great tension created by the gruesome vocals. All these elements are covered with a dark veil of Black Metal-ish atmosphere that charms and “scares”, making “Reign Of The Odious” even more delightful. The Black Metal past of Swartadauþuz is leaving its footprint in the Death Metal character of the album, giving it a unique identity, which makes it stand out among hundreds of other releases in this genre.
“Reign Of The Odious” is a great Death/Black Metal album where we can identify Swartadauþuz’s ability to understand extreme sound. He combines ideally Black and Death Metal through his personal prism and creates one of the best releases so far in his career.
