Mina Caputo, the voice of the American alternative heavy metal band LIFE OF AGONY, shared a 13-minute video on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, explaining her decision to revert to the name Keith Caputo. The transgender singer revealed that she has “healed” her gender dysphoria and plans to return to the name Keith Caputo following the completion of her full physical detransition in 2025.

The video began with Mina Caputo discussing her decision to detransition:

“I have been off hormones for six-seven years. And in January 2025, I have scheduled surgery to remove my fake breasts, and I will live lovingly as my male self. I have healed my gender dysphoria. It took many years, going through the fire, but I overcame the misunderstandings I had about my soul and spirit.”

Regarding her decision to change her name back to Keith Caputo, she stated:

“So, that’s my big reveal. I’m changing my name back to Keith. To all the people that seem confused and the people that have thrown me hatred and shade and all these mean comments, yeah, throughout this time I’ve had gender dysphoria for 40-plus, for as long as I can remember. And that’s why what they’re doing today is disgusting, and I wanted to make a little jam about it. I’m gonna go deeper and deeper and deeper, but not now. I’m tired.”

Mina continued by reflecting on her struggles and personal journey:

“I have undergone years of trauma therapy, herbal medicine treatments, though the world isn’t ready for this conversation. I stopped hormones when LIFE OF AGONY released A Place Where There’s No More Pain in 2016. I am living as a different and more healed version of myself.”

She strongly expressed concerns about medical and surgical transitions for children, voicing her worries about the side effects of hormones and the lack of coverage about how painful they can be. She also shared her relief that her parents didn’t make decisions for her as a child, saying:

“Now, at 50 years old, almost 51, I no longer have dysphoria.”

Mina passionately addressed her journey toward self-awareness:

“I believe hormones destroyed my soul. Not just physically, but spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. What once freed me, ultimately imprisoned me.”

In the video, Mina also spoke about her difficult childhood, growing up in an environment full of trauma and absence. Reflecting on her artistic career, she stated:

“I am much more than a musician. I am a poet, a painter, and something beyond my creative self.”

Two days after the 2024 U.S. elections, Mina publicly endorsed Donald Trump, citing his commitment to halting medical interventions for children undergoing gender transition care.
