The singer and founder of MEGADETH, Dave Mustaine, has begun working on the band’s new album, entering the studio to start recordings.

Mustaine made sure to inform the members of MEGADETH’s Cyber Army that he will spend the next six months in the studio with the producer Chris Rakestraw. Meanwhile, bassist James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari are contributing some song ideas remotely and plan to join Mustaine in the studio, at a later stage.

In a recent interview, Dave Mustaine was asked if he is already considering MEGADETH’s next full-length album, the follow-up to “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” (2022), to which he responded:

“Yes, we are recording MEGADETH’s next album! We’re not going to take as long between releases as we did this time. There were so many setbacks — the pandemic, the blockade, you name it. So many things happened. My cancer treatment, the lineup change, starting from scratch with a new bassist.”

Dave spoke openly and reflected on the challenging period of his battle with cancer, saying:

“The cancer treatment was also tough on the guys, watching me go through all of that. Some days, I would seem completely normal. The other day, I would be so medicated that I couldn’t stay awake. And that was hard for the guys to see. I had two days that I was really, really sick that I threw up. Out of the whole treatment, I thought that was really good. I was fighting with everything, every moral fiber of my being, to make sure that I stayed in the game, because they kept saying over and over again, ‘If you don’t eat, if you lose weight, we’re gonna put a tube in you.’ And I got so serious. And we started to pick up the pace when we were doing the “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” record.”
