The Swedish guitarist Karl Näslund has sadly passed away at the age of just 51. Näslund was known for his contribution in 1994 to the first IN FLAMES album, “Lunar Strain”, which laid the foundation for the band’s remarkable journey and the spread of Swedish Melodic Death Metal.

His old friend and former bandmate in IN FLAMES, Jesper Strömblad, expressed his grief through a touching message on social media, writing:

“My condolences go out to friends and family to Karl Näslund. Heartbroken to hear about the untimely passing. We’ll do that jam on the other side. Rest in Power.”

Näslund was a humble and talented figure in the Metal scene, leaving his mark through his guitar work and creativity throughout his career. His loss has shocked the Metal community, and his friends will remember him with respect and love.
