If we asked a question about the most famous metal band from Chile, surely the answers would be shared between PENTAGRAM CHILE and CRIMINAL. Know is time to add INVOCATION at that list! They claim that they play “Ritualistic” and “Hypnotic” Black/Death Metal. More simply, we would describe it us Blackened Death Metal with the core of their sound being deep in the sound of BLASPHEMY, PROFANATICA, IMPRECATION, INCANTATION etc. They were created in 2015 and so far they have released the awesome demo “Seance Part. I” in 2016, the EP “The Mastery of the Unseen” in 2018 and this year’s EP “Attunement to Death”. The truth is that I would expect them to release a full length and not an EP again, however this may happen because they are still trying to find their sound.
“Attunement to Death” begins with an ominous and enigmatic intro that creates an oppressive and “claustrophobic” sense before INVOCATION drag you to the roots of the underworld. In the EP’s five songs, the barbaric bass lines drives the rhythm section and an explosion of demonic guitar riffs reveals a partnership of Black metal darkness combined with Death Metal! A furious set of rage and destruction is offered, from start till the end. There is not a single moment of peace in “Attunement to Death”, exactly just as extreme music should be played!
The vocals by Sense of Premonition with the demonic grunts and screams sound completely “annoying” for the ear, the sounds of the guitar blacken your mind without a single dose of mercy and the atmospheric Death Metal production creates a hell harmony dressed in the veil of South American diabolism, highlighting its occult character. In “Attunement to Death” the Chileans managed to write songs with memorable riffs and gave their compositions the ability to “breathe and grow”, with the average duration reaching six minutes per song.
INVOCATION with “Attunement to Death” presents us their best and most mature release so far and prepares us for their upcoming debut. In the new EP you will find several moments that you will enjoy and although the short duration (about thirty minutes) it exudes a smell of ritual violence. Just let the dark and demonic sounds that cursed the Chilean trio, penetrate your soul.
