Last time we heard INSOMNIUM was during 2019 with “Heart Like A Winter”, one of the best discs of this particular year. Finnish Melo-Deathsters probably had inspiration during the pandemic and return with a single and a track of just over 7 minutes. Oh, and a video that accompanies it. Or rather, the most well-rounded video of the year.
With their well-known unparalleled style, they add even more winter melancholy to their music. The melody of one track is excellent, the melodic riff even more so. The awesome video, 80% of which is snow-covered, could and should not be missed. It’s end, is of course sad. There are various tones and melodies in this one. We can hear an amazing melodic solo which takes a foothoald on the song’s rhythm, a fairly progressive mood in most parts and especially in the basic rhythm change around the middle, some acoustic points, the well-known extreme vocals of Niilo Sevänen and in general, the only normal reaction for anyone is to want to click the replay button at the end of the song.
Hopefully the pandemic period has found the Finns with more music, capable of filling an entire album.
