On January 25th, 2022 Fredrik Johansson passed away after a three-year long battle with cancer. The news was delivered by longtime DARK TRANQUILLITY frontman Mikael Stanne, who issued a lengthy tribute to his onetime bandmate, simply starting the post: “One of us is gone…”.

Fredrik Johansson joined DARK TRANQUILLITY in ’93, right after the recording of their first album “Skydancer” and he replaced Mikael Stanne as guitarist with the second mentioned focusing on singing. He was a member of DARK TRANQUILLITY until 1999 and as Mikael Stanne states in his announcement : “Fredrik remained our biggest fan and our fiercest critic. His insights into the direction of our music was invaluable and knowing that he always listened and cared about what he had been part of creating meant the world to us“.

Mikael Stanne and all the members of DARK TRANQUILLITY send their love and appreciation for Fredrik Johansson both for his music talent and his personality. They also send their love to his family -wife and three daughters.
