Drummer Eloy Casagrande has left SEPULTURA, in order to join another project, with some fans speculating that he will be SLIPKNOT’s new drummer!
The news of Eloy’s departure from SEPULTURA comes just two months after the band’s announcement for a “farewell tour”‘ that will cover the entire world, celebrating at the same time SEPULTURA’s 40 years of existence
The Brazilians released the following statement via their social media:
“The ‘Celebrating Life Through Death’ tour, our farewell tour, which for the next 18 months will be celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary and also our farewell to the stage.
In early December 2023, SEPULTURA clearly defined the intention in their announcement that it was a “conscious and planned death”. As poetic as it sounds, ethics and loyalty to their fans, as well as respect for the band’s history, are a clear priority for Andreas Kisser, Derrick Green and Paulo Xisto.
However, on February 6, 2024, a few days before the first rehearsal, drummer Eloy Casagrande announced that he was leaving SEPULTURA to pursue a career in another project. The band was taken by surprise, without prior warning. Eloy left the band, leaving everything to do with SEPULTURA. Fortunately, American virtuoso Greyson Nekrutman will be taking over from Eloy Casagrande and is welcome as the band’s new drummer for the farewell tour celebrating ‘life through death’.“
Greyson Nekrutman comments:
“I express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible opportunity to join the legendary SEPULTURA for their farewell tour. Contributing to this legacy is a privilege that fills me with both honor and excitement. SEPULTURA’s fearless approach to exploring new territory in the metal realm is something I’ve always admired and strived to emulate in my own musical endeavours. I’m looking forward to adding my own spirit and passion to the mix, connecting with the fans who have supported the band through its evolution, and the experiences we’ll create together on stage. Here’s to the new chapters we’ll write together, the stages we’ll conquer, and the powerful music we’ll release into the world.”
