Two years after the quite remarkable album “Death in Pieces”, Swedish Death Metallers veterans CENTINEX, return with their new EP “The Pestilence”, which is the connection between the 2020’s album and their upcoming release. The Swedes are a very decent band that since 1992, where they were formed, until today continues to release solid and quality work. Their new EP could not be the exception to the rule.
Loyal to the Swedish Old School Death Metal sound, combined with some Thrash Metal influences, they deliver a sweeping and violent release with ‘rotten’ production, reminding us of the glorious days of this genre. “The Pestilence” consists of five compositions (the vinyl includes 4 songs, while the cd version has “Afraid of the Light” as a bonus track), all with the main characteristic of the raw and aggressive rhythms. In fact, it’s impossible to take a breath during the listening of this release, as the songs crush everything at their path creating a warlike atmosphere. It is no coincidence that the title of the opening track of “The Pestilence” is “Armageddon”, and it starts with machine gun sounds.
We don’t have much more to say about “The Pestilence”, as also this time CENTINEX are moving in their familiar sound paths, with their new release being a nostalgic retrospective of the European Death/Thrash Metal sound of the 90’s. Their new EP will keep us company with its crushing sound until their next release. For those of you who don’t know the band, now is an opportunity to find out about them, while also taking a look back at their discography.
