One-man bands are many and often remarkable, especially the melodic Black Metal ones that really offer valuable releases to the friends of the genre and metal in general. One such one-man band is that of Bryan Eckermann, whose sixth full-length album, entitled “The 7th Sin”, will be discussed below.
The fact that one will discover diamonds if one starts digging in the fields of all the numerous one-man bands does not mean that everything one will find is valuable. As everywhere else, here too, he will find good, mediocre and bad things, many times even from the same creator.
Something similar happens with the case of Bryan Eckermann. This American representative of the melodic Black / Death Metal, in his latest work, presents us with 10 tracks, with the theme of horror stories and the supernatural (as in his previous works). So, lyrically, it is kind of interesting. Is that enough to say that we discovered a diamond? Unfortunately, no…
Without saying that “The 7th Sin” is bad or unpleasant, it does not escape mediocrity. The reason is not necessarily the inspiration of the producer, but a rather lousy production, vocally too distorted and his very, very loud guitars. As a result of the above, neither the necessary atmosphere for the genre, nor the will to deal with the album any more than necessary can be achieved …
