Brutal Ballet, Europe’s only metal ballet company are back with their new full length ballet, Oriental Symphony!
The show explores modern and traditional aspects of Japanese culture through the grace and femininity of ballet, contrasting with the powerful and masculine sound of metal, presented entirely to the breathtaking music of Japanese metal band, GYZE.
This is the first performance from a full company of metal ballerinas in over ten years, since the debut of Dethballet in Australia in 2009. Since relocating to Northern Ireland in 2015, Brutal Ballet has performed at many events, including as a regular guest at Titancon, as well as Uma Obscura, Alternativfesten and Shockholm Halloween Festival in Sweden since 2018.
Founder and director Bridie Mayfield has also spent the last 7 years working for Northern Ireland’s famous Extras Dept, and has been in tv and film productions such as Line of Duty, Season 1 and 2 of Krypton, Game of Thrones, and can be in the upcoming Robert Eggers Viking revenge saga, The Northman, alongside Anya Taylor Joy and Alexander Skårsgard.
Oriental Symphony is scheduled to premiere in Stockholm, Sweden in November 2021, Covid restrictions allowing.
