In a recent interview, the former guitarist of SEPULTURA was asked about his opinion on Max and Igor “Iggor” Cavalera’s decision to re-record and re-release SEPULTURA’s early records, “Morbid Visions” and “Bestial Devastation”, along with a re-recorded version of Andreas Kisser’s first album with the band, “Schizophrenia”.

Andreas Kisser said:

“I don’t believe in it. It’s a strange choice they made. I think the artistic value is zero. Maybe they’re doing it for the money or something like that, but there’s no reason to do it. I much prefer THE TROOPS OF DOOM, the new band of Jairo ‘Tormentor’ Guedz (former guitarist of SEPULTURA), who are doing a really great tribute to that era, very sincere, creating new things, writing new music… But if they’re having fun, let them be. I don’t care. I just think it’s completely unnecessary. It’s really a lot of disrespect from them to themselves in the past.

It’s weird to see a guy (Max Cavalera) who always says, ‘Oh, I did this,’ ‘I did everything on my own,’ ‘I’m so creative,’ and then do stupid things like re-record riffs we made 30, 40 years ago. The rhetoric doesn’t match the example.”

When asked if he would consider releasing new music with SEPULTURA after the completion of the band’s current farewell tour, Andreas Kisser responded:

“Yes, we’re working on new songs, actually, with SEPULTURA’s new drummer, Greyson Nekrutman. We have amazing chemistry. He’s an incredible musician, an incredible guy. We’ll combine it with the live album we’re recording. The idea is to gather 40 songs from 40 different cities around the world. And together we’ll have four new songs with Greyson in this big package.”

Regarding what fans can expect from the new SEPULTURA songs, Andreas said:

“The unpredictable! Wait and see! (Laughs) Who knows?”

Earlier this year, Max Cavalera commented on the decision to re-record “Morbid Visions”, “Bestial Devastation” and “Schizophrenia”:

“Igor and I did special tours to celebrate the other SEPULTURA albums, like we did with Roots, and then we did Beneath The Remains, and the fans’ reaction was so explosive with the way we played these songs live that I told Igor it would be nice to have this sound on those old albums, which sounded terrible, to make them sound great with the way we play now.”
