This band’s strange name is (0) and it comes from the word “Parentes0parentes”. They are described as the well-kept secret of the Danish Black Metal underground. As you understand, they come from Denmark and the identity of their members as well as some more information about the band, is covered by a veil of mystery. They prefer to let the music speak about them, as they say. (0) is a new band. They appeared for the first time in 2017 with their self-titled EP. Their unique sound gained the attention of Napalm Records through which they will release in a few days their first full length album entitled “SkamHan”.

They describe their sound as Progressive Black Metal, which I would personally say that is setting boundaries on their sound. The core of band’s music is a superficial part of Black Metal that crosses paths in a maze of musical influences, as (0) travel us through Post Metal, Stoner, Sludge and Drone paths. So its a multi-faceted sound that, at some moments, can be described like “MASTODON trying to play Black Metal”.

The album contains seven compositions, which are moving mainly in slow and mid tempo dark rhythms. There is a progressive frame which flourish in a hallucinogenic mixture of influences, filled with Sludge and Black Metal explosions. Throughout the album, intense dark and “hypnotic” atmosphere are present, dressed with melancholy while the “angry” vocals-growls breed feelings of “fear”, agony and nothingness by creating threatening patterns.

“SkamHan” is a very progressive and experimental record of extreme metal that needs many listenings and an open mind in order to appreciate it and realize the musical value it hides. (0) took the risk by experimenting with a wide range of soundscapes, creating a high quality album that will accompany you at your darkest moments….
