AIMA is a band that originates from Greece and was formed in Athens, back in 2010. They have released a demo in 2012 and then an EP in 2014, as also a split album with the Spanish band Supermative in 2017. “Tragos” is their first complete work.
The musical style of the band is the so called War Metal together with elements of Black and Death Metal, they are spiritual children of BLASPHEMY, ARCHGOAT, BEHERIT, following their footsteps in the barbaric sound and which they combine with blasphemous lyrics.
In the 8 songs that this album contains, we come across all those elements of brutal War Metal that we love so much. Guitars are quite influenced by the sound of Death Metal, mainly by bands such as INCANTATION and SADISTIC INTENT. With their sound they destroy everything: melodies that give a dark feeling to the songs, brutal vocals with grim Black Metal screams and solos which, with their chaotic sound, reminiscent of their influences from the 90’s without removing the personal stigma of the band.
The songs are well done and they are not monotonous, which often happens in this particular style of metal, as there is a mix of fast, slow and mid tempo parts. You do not always hear fast blast beats but the rotation of the rhythms is continuous, giving the songs a “wild” feeling and keeping the listener’s interest alive.
The album is good and after the completion of the 26 minutes, you have the feeling that you do not had enough and you want to hear it again. It is a worthwhile proposition for those who want their Death Metal unpredictable and dark.
