If there is something that German people excel at in music, it is Thrash Metal. Fast, speedy and powerful Thrash Metal. SIGN OF DEATH from Ladenburg, a relatively new thrash metal band does precisely that. They were formed in 2019, but only last year they took their current and completely functional form and managed to release their first EP, called “Revival”, in February.

Their EP is comprised of five songs. The first one is “War of Mind”, which is exactly what we could expect. Dynamic guitars accompanied by even more dynamic drums, until we hear for the first time Georg in vocals (clean or not). The next song is “No Compromise” which is a direct hit on the head. No room for instrumental intro, but with many amazing solos for the next almost 5 minutes. «I See my Death» and «Hope and Dreams» do not differentiate and they follow the old school thrash music lines. The most unique song of this album (at least to my ears) is the last one, a bonus track called “Lost”. Again, a classic thrash metal song where speedy music alternates with slower parts, a characteristic that makes the song very interesting.

SING OF DEATH chooses a traditional thrash metal way to show us their abilities. I am sure that it will appeal to those who reminisce about ‘90s metal. It is a very good first step and when they manage to enrich their music, I am sure we can expect even better songs from them, since they are amazing musicians (their solos are extremely good!!).
