Grammy Award-winning Iowan icons SLIPKNOT, have unleashed “Yen”, the third single off their widely anticipated new album, “The End, So Far”, which will be released on September 30th through Roadrunner Records.
“Yen” is a showcase of SLIPKNOT’s exceptional range and sees one of the world’s most popular and deeply enigmatic bands relentlessly charting new ground as they continue to redefine, revitalize, and reimagine the scope of rock music.
Corey Taylor recently told Kerrang!: “Yen is probably one of my favourite songs that we’ve ever done. And it’s such a great, cool departure for us, because there are obviously very Slipknot elements to it, but then some of the music is us kind of touching our inner Tom Waits in weird ways, you know? It’s really, really cool. But then there’s almost like a Type O [Negative] approach to it. I think people are really, really going to fucking dig it when they hear it.”
Discussing Yen as well as a previously teased ‘blues’ song on the record, Corey continues: “Those two songs are my very, very favourites, because they’re departures but you can still feel that it’s us. Because we’ve gotten to a certain point in our career, and we’re still doing stuff like that, it’s really brought out this weird joy for us. Listening back to this album has been so fucking gratifying. And I just I hope people dig it as much as we do.”
Produced by SLIPKNOT and Joe Barresi, “The End, So Far” includes the band’s 2021 surprise single “The Chapeltown Rag” and follows their widely celebrated 2019 album “We Are Not Your Kind”, which marked SLIPKNOT’s third consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The release made a massive global impact with No. 1 debuts in the official album charts of twelve countries around the world, including the U.K., Australia, Canada and Mexico, with Top 5 debuts in an additional twelve countries including Germany, France and Sweden.
Slipknot have been on tour in Europe since July 20, and made stops in Romania, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and more. The current run will run until August 19, when the band will perform at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival, before a US edition of their Knotfest Roadshow commences from September 20.
