Diamond Head -The Coffin Train
(Silver Lining Music)
Total Running Time 48:01
We all know that the glorious NWOBHM days have passed, but here we have a guitarist, Bryan Tatler working with the help of the new singer Rasmus Bom Andersen, AOR of maturity. Here we will find nice bass lines and vocals.
Special moments the first two songs (“Belly Of The Beast”, “The Messenger”). The third, self-titled track, reminded me “That Day That Never Comes” of METALLICA, oxymoron e? The main riff of “The Sleeper” is same as the “Embodiment” of CARCASS from “Heartwork” but more polished. Especially in the last four tracks (“Death By Design”, “Serrated Love”, “The Phoenix”, “Until We Burn”) the singer reminds Chriss Cornell (in the latest SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE) without this “graze” a rock tune. The last track (“Until We Burn”) is a very nice song that includes all of their features. The production has volume and depth we would say is a dark AOR album.
In the end, there is no bad album at all. It has got nice production and ideas. However, due to the lack of intense moments, we would say that “The Coffin Train” is a calm Hard Rock album that sounds relaxed, mostly afternoon, either with a coffee escort or a coastal ride, or even, as in my case, cleaning the dishes!!! There is no connection with the vicious style of Biker’s Rock (as THE CULT) on the vocals and the SAVATAGE style of the previous album’s (“Diamond Head” and “What’s In Your Head”) at the guitars, that reminds you of the good old days in which you expected something like “Am I Evil” 2.
