Swedish Death Metallers DEMONICAL are back with their sixth album “World Domination”, which marks the return of their original drummer Ronnie Bergerstål and the addition of the new singer Christofer Säterdal. These changes are the only ones compared to their previous album “Chaos Manifesto”, as musically they navigate themselves in exactly the same sound paths.

The sound of the album, without surprising us of course, takes us back to the 90’s and more specifically to the years when the barbaric Swedish Death Metal sound was prevalent with DEMONICAL drawing their influences from DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, early AMON AMARTH etc. The album consists of eight songs which, for the most part, move in a fast-offensive tempo with groove and the characteristic Swedish riffs while the slow parts are distinguishable for their heavy sound. Within this stormy Death Metal rhythm, the song that stands out and sets the tone is definitely “Slipping Away” with the guest vocals by Nils Patrik Johansson (ASTRAL DOORS, CIVIL WAR). A slow Heavy Metal composition with clean vocals by Nils and brutal in the chorus by Christofer Säterdal, that you can hardly understand that it has been written by the Swedes. Highlight of the record is the excellent performance of the new singer whose vocals pay tribute to the huge LG Petrov while the production is classic for the genre with the vocals and guitars loud in the mix.

DEMONICAL add another good album to their discography as “World Domination” is a quality sample of Swedish Death Metal but it is not far from being labelled as a clone of EDGE OF SANITY and ENTOMBED. It will satisfy fans of this sound without impressing them as it does not offer anything new to the genre, which I would not say is particularly annoying as we never expected DEMONICAL to  release a masterpiece or a bad album.
