“Metal Thrashin’ Mad”!! Only with this phrase I can characterize the music of this newly formed (the band was created in 2016) New Zealand trio STÄLKER! Fury and rage from the first second of the opening supersonic “Of Steel And Fire” to the last of “Blasphemer”…… sorry “Intruder” I wanted to say… with the exception, towards the end of the album, with the dark “The Cross ”- in which we take some breaths, giving us a goal from the locker room! An epic introduction with a great chorus to the self-titled track afterwards, to be followed rather by the “hit” of the album, the “catchy” “Sentenced to Death”!
The only negative thing, which may be kind of tiring for some listeners is the fact that the album should have a slightly higher output. Because really, such music deserves to be heard full and loud, without necessarily having to turn up the volume on your stereo to the maximum, in order to hear it better! Otherwise, there is a possibility that the songs will be heard kind of “flat”. Nevertheless, I would say that “Black Majik Terror” is a fine album with its furious openings, with its melodies, its genuine character and its necessary fierce!
Overall a very good work in its kind. The “old” feeling is pervasive. Good ideas, tied playing in the solo alternations as well as psychotic vocals from another era, strongly reminiscent of bands like NUCLEAR ASSAULT, SLAYER (“Show No Mercy” era) to “King D” at his best!
STÄLKER, still having on their assets their debut album “Shadow Of the Sword” and the EP “Powermad”, went one step further with “Black Majik Terror”. Speed, riffs and melody are the elements that form the almost 40 minutes of the album. Honest SPEED THRASH N ’ROLL clearly from the 80’s (even on the cover) at its best, from a band that is worth listening to!
