DARK MESSIAH is a Hellenic war Black Metal band formed in 2000. They come from Kozani city. This is the second full-length album. Their first album “Virtue And Glory Eternal” was released in 2011. In 2012 the band suffered a great loss when Olethros (guitars) had a terrible accident and died, so “Echoes Of War” album is dedicated to him.
The first thing to hit you about the new album is the overwhelming barrage sounds that resonate with so much force that you might fall out of your seat! The whole album is raw and chaotic. The sheer tightness and speed is definitely the main highlights! Awesome blast beats that rip your ears, drums to shreds, guitar riffs that actually match the pace of the music and vocals that don’t sound like shrieks of despair. There is one word that really characterizes what this album is all about and this word is…“extreme”!
After the shock of the first hearing, you will start picking up the finer details and begin to realize there is much more in this album than just speed and brutality. The main thing to realize is that even if DARK MESSIAH are incredibly technical and speedy at their music, they also have great melodies! From start to finish this album is brutally energetic!
Overall “Echoes Of War” is one great release in the Black Metal scene! I would highly recommend this album to anyone who likes extreme metal and above all, to Black Metal fans who are into the brutal stuff.
