METALLICA donated $500,000 to support communities in Los Angeles affected by the devastating wildfires through their charitable foundation platform “All Within My Hands”. According to its website, the foundation is dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, fighting hunger, and addressing other critical local services.

The foundation’s press release states:

“Our foundation, All Within My Hands, is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. For the Los Angeles County fires, CCF has activated its Wildfire Recovery Fund to complement immediate relief and address the long-term recovery needs of neighborhoods.

The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has established the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. The fund will support immediate needs during relief efforts as the fires continue to spread. It will also support critical long-term recovery efforts after the fires are extinguished and the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding what has been destroyed begins.”

The devastating fires began last week in Pacific Palisades on the western side of Los Angeles and Altadena in the east, destroying over 40,000 acres. Other areas such as Studio City and Runyon Canyon were also affected by fires, which have now been contained and extinguished.

At the time of publication, the Palisades fire had burned more than 23,000 acres and was only 14% contained, while the Eaton fire in the east was 33% contained and had burned 14,000 acres. Over the past week, the city has suffered 24 deaths, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, and more than 12,000 destroyed structures.

Many resources are available for those who have lost their homes or need other assistance. MusiCares and the Recording Academy launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to support music professionals impacted by the crisis, with an initial commitment of $1 million. Those who have worked in the music industry for more than five years can receive direct assistance, including up to $1,500 in financial aid and $500 in food vouchers.

THE EAGLES pledged $2.5 million to support wildfire victims through a benefit concert on January 30. ICE NINE released a collectible shirt with proceeds going to the California Fire Foundation. The band MANA supports various organizations, including the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and World Central Kitchen. Beyoncé’s foundation, BeyGood, committed $2.5 million to support recovering families. Doja Cat created a clothing line in collaboration with the Red Cross to support relief efforts. Paris Hilton created an emergency fund, offering $100,000 and pledging to match donations up to $100,000.
