Sakis Tolis is releasing another solo album after “Among the Fires of Hell”. However, this time he did not use his name but the name ΧΞΣ (that means 666), which is also found as a song on ROTTING CHRIST’s album, “Κατα τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού”. Was a right move not to put it under his name? I think so, because “Among the fires of hell” had a sound close to the era of “A Dead Poem” and “Sleep of the Angels” by ROTTING CHRIST, while this album has the sonic and compositional approach of the band’s era, from “Theogonia” onwards.

On a musical field now, here Sakis Tolis emphasizes more on the atmosphere. Full of chants, samples, alternations of harsh and non-harsh vocals, and the Greek element is very evident again, several classic ROTTING CHRIST guitars and lack of speed (with a few exceptions). Personally, it did not surprise me at any point, the songs are all on a “flat” level giving me the feeling of incompleteness and something that happened too quickly or even worse, was done to be done. Lyrically, Sakis takes on a completely trivial topic, the Revelation of Ioannis divided into 7 parts.

I have to say that I first listened to “Pro Xristou” and then this one, while they were recorded and released in the opposite order. Could this stand as another ROTTING CHRIST album? Probably not! It lags far behind the aforementioned one. In fact, this also justifies his decision to simply release it on his bandcamp at the beginning of the year. Then of course the proposal from Floga Records came to release it in physical form in very beautiful editions, especially if someone is a collector (like me). But enough with the negative comments because we are talking about an album that no one from the Greek and not only Metal scene can write and of course you can’t say anything bad about it. It’s just that expectations from Sakis Tolis are always very high so…..
